Obama and the Art of Negotiation

Sharing some great tweets from Mark Knoller, CBS White House Correspondent, remarks made by Obama this evening, April 14, after an event, this was a discussion with campaign supporters regarding the budget negotiations:

1. Obama says he told Boehner and McConnell he wouldn’t allow them to cut funding for Planned Parenthood.

2. Obama said he challenged GOP on Planned Parenthood cuts. "If you think you can overturn my veto, try it. But don’t try to sneak this thru."

3. Obama said an aide to Boehner begged for a concession: "We’ve got to have something to sell to our caucus," Obama quoted the aide

4. Obama ridiculed GOP moves to repeal health care reform "by nickel-&-diming me in the budget. You think we’re stupid?" he said he told them.

5. Obama said he expects GOP to use the Debt Limit vote to try to enact their political agenda "under the guise of cutting spending."

6. And Obama slammed House Budget Chmn Paul Ryan, calling him "the same guy that voted for two wars that were unpaid for, voted for the Bush tax cuts that were unpaid for; voted for the prescription drug bill – that cost as much as my health care bill but wasn’t paid for."
